Can you freeze raw milk?
Yes! Our milk freezes really well. Most customers ordering for delivery will buy in bulk & freeze their milk.
Is Cothelstone micro-dairy organic?
We are not certified organic, however our cows graze the beautiful & diverse certified organic pastures of the Cothelstone Estate. This is also where all our organic winter forage is grown.
As a farm we are proudly chemical free, using no fertilisers, pesticides, herbicides, insecticides or in fact no ‘ides’ at all. We follow many organic farming principles & farm in a way that prioritises soil health, biodiversity & animal welfare.
Use of Antibiotics on the farm is very rare and something we try to avoid were absolutely possible. However there may be instances where it is required for the welfare of one of our animals in which case we follow Organic milk & meat withdrawal times. (Double that of conventional withdrawal times).
Do you use Antibiotics?
All our calves stay with their mums for anywhere between 6-9 months, depending on the individual cow calf pair. They then go on to be finished for beef around the age of 2.
What happens to the calves?
What does 100% pasture fed mean?
Our cows eat a diet as nature intended entirely free of grains & soya. They graze organic pastures most of the year & are fed a small handful of grass or Lucerne (Alfalfa) nuts in the parlour during milking time. We think you can taste the diffrence!
The fridge is open Tuesday- Sunday for purchases & collection, but please be aware the fridge is closed on a MONDAY.

Is raw milk safe?
At Cothelstone micro-dairy we take raw milk safety very seriously. Our milk is independently tested regularly and we always aim to meet standards far beyond the expectations of safe raw milk production in the UK. No milk is ever sold that we wouldn’t feel entirely confident giving to our own young children. We hold a 5 star Food Hygiene rating.
However we can only control for how our milk is handled up until the point it leaves the farm, so we ask that you freeze or refrigerate your milk as soon as possible after purchase & follow the Use By Dates displayed.

Are the cows given Bovaer the chemical fed to reduce methane emissions?
Absolutely not. We believe in taking a holistic approach to cultivating healthy carbon & methane cycles. The cows are fed no supplements, chemical addetives or other inputs.
Are the Cows vaccinated?
No, we do not vaccinate any animals on the farm.
How do I order to collect?
At the checkout please select ‘more payment options’. Enter your email to continue & from there you can select ‘Store Pickup’. Your milk will be ready to collect the following day from 9am & will have your name on.
